Art transport in Berlin: paintings and sculptures in specialist packaging
Canvas, glass and gilded frames do not cope well with pressure or knocks. That is why we check size, materials and access before we pack and move anything.

In short
Paradiso Umzüge moves paintings, framed pictures and sculptures in every Berlin borough (Bezirk). For transport, we pack artworks in wrapping paper, bubble wrap and boxes and add extra protection with foam and air-cushion packaging. We do not offer climate-controlled transport, appraisals or restoration.
What to prepare before your art move
The better we know your pieces in advance, the better the packaging fits. We need these details and photos for your quote.
You will find detailed packing tips in our art transport guide.
- Photograph the condition
- Photograph each piece from the front, the back and at the corners. Take close-ups of any scratches, cracks or loose areas so the condition before the move is on record.
- Make a list
- A title or short description, the material and the room it goes to in your new home. Giving each piece a number makes packing, labelling and unpacking easier.
- Dimensions and weight
- Height, width and depth, including the frame or base. For heavy sculptures, add an estimated weight so we can plan enough hands and the right materials.
- Frame, glass and surface
- Let us know whether a picture is behind glass, whether the frame is gilded or very delicate, and whether the paint surface is fragile. That determines how the piece is packed.
- Value and insurance coverage
- Check with your own insurance company whether, and up to what amount, your artworks are covered during the move. Do this before the move, not after.
- Access at both addresses
- Floor, lift, stairwell and door widths. Large formats and heavy objects need a clear, short route to the truck.
How art transport works with us
- Step 1
Request with list and photos
Send us your list with dimensions and photos using our quote form, or give us a call. We use this to plan packing, crew and time.
- Step 2
On-site survey if needed
If size, weight or the route through the building is not clear from the photos, we come and look at the pieces and the route on site.
- Step 3
Recording the condition
Before anything is packed, the condition of each piece is documented in your photos, so you can compare clearly after the move.
- Step 4
Specialist packaging
Each artwork is protected for transport with specialist packaging suited to its size, frame and fragility. We pack with wrapping paper, bubble wrap and boxes, the same materials we also offer as packing supplies, and add extra protection with foam and air-cushion packaging.
- Step 5
Transport
Our own team carries the packed pieces to the truck, loads them and drives them to your new address.
- Step 6
Placement at the destination
The pieces go into the rooms listed on your inventory. When you unpack, compare their condition with your photos and let us know right away if anything looks wrong.
A list and photos are all we need to get started. You will receive a free, no-obligation quote.

- Climate-controlled transport with regulated temperature and humidity
- Appraisals or estimates of an artwork's value
- Restoration, cleaning or framing
- Installing picture rails or hanging systems
For high-value pieces or works with special temperature and humidity requirements, a specialist fine art shipper is the right choice. An art appraiser determines the value; questions about insurance coverage are best clarified with your own insurance company.

Questions about art transport
How are paintings and pictures packed for transport?
Each artwork gets specialist packaging. The details depend on the size, the frame, whether there is glass and how delicate the surface is; we agree on this with you before the move.
What materials do you use to pack artwork?
Wrapping paper, bubble wrap and boxes, the same materials we also offer as packing supplies. On top of that, we protect each piece with foam and air-cushion packaging. How much of this a piece needs depends on its size, frame, glazing and fragility.
Do you offer climate-controlled art transport?
No. For works that need controlled temperature and humidity, a specialist fine art shipper is the right choice.
How do I prepare my artworks for the move?
Photograph each piece from all sides, make a list with dimensions, material and destination room, and note which pieces are behind glass or especially fragile. Also clarify value and insurance coverage with your own insurance company.
Do you appraise artworks?
No, we do not do appraisals or value estimates. Contact an art appraiser for that, ideally before the move.
Can I combine art transport with my move?
Yes. List the artworks with dimensions and photos in your moving request, and we will plan packing and time for them.
How much does art transport cost?
That depends on the number, size and weight of the pieces, the packing work, the route through the building and the distance. Send us your list and photos, and you will get a free quote before you decide.
